I Found My Niche at Central Washington University
Student Name: Plamedie Masiala
School: Central Washington University
Major: Apparel, Textiles & Merchandising
“Hey everyone!
My name is Plamedie Masiala and I am currently a senior here at Central Washington University. I am pursuing my Bachelor of Science with a major in Apparel, Textiles & Merchandising.
I had first decided to go to Central because I’d received a scholarship for track and field but ended up falling in love with fashion marketing and decided to make my major my main focus instead.
Central has a great fashion program and has taught me skills such as using Adobe Creative Suites in which I make moodboards, technical packages and more. This program has also taught me how to run my own business @shoplaviechic (please follow!) and the depth of the fashion world and retail industry.
I met the most selfless people at this school and they are the reason I am half the person I am today.
Going to college during a pandemic has been very challenging for me because my major is a very hands-on major. Having to do projects online has been difficult and not as enjoyable than if they were in person. Going through a pandemic while going to school has shown me how strong I actually am and that I can really overcome anything.”—@choco_queenn

I chose to attend Youngstown State University due to its size and location. Campus is pretty much all together so you’re not walking over 10 minutes to class (at most.) Downtown is also a five-minute walk from campus and there’s tons of stuff to do just a short drive away!
