I Found My Niche at Brigham Young University
Student Name: Madison
School: Brigham Young University
Hey! My name is Madison, and I’m a freshman at BYU on the gymnastics team. I am looking to major in pre-law and minor in marketing to follow my dream of becoming a sports agent. I came to BYU back in June as the summer semester is required for incoming freshman athletes. I’m grateful for that because it gave me some time to adjust to college course loads and learn the campus before the full student body was here. I was homeschooled thru my sophomore year of high school and then COVID hit, so I never really had a true “classroom experience” before now. I love being in the classroom environment with my professors and other students. I have made a lot of new friends, and some of my professors are absolutely hilarious! The process of finding the right college was extremely stressful. It’s a big decision that you know you cannot take lightly. Add COVID restrictions on top of that, and it was much more difficult to get a feel for things during college visits.
Luckily there were some great people here at BYU who were able to help answer my questions and provide resources so that I could make the best decision about where to pursue my future. BYU is great even for someone who is not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints. Although it is sometimes difficult to fit In as a non-member, I seek guidance with my other friends that are non-members and we do a lot of things together! BYU has a great message for what it stands for and truly is a welcoming atmosphere. – @madisonraeslypatton

I Found My Niche at University of Pennsylvania
As a low-income student and woman of color, I will say that the community here at Penn is what makes my college experience all the better! Through ARCH, the cultural resource center, I have met so many people from different walks of life and made so many friends whom I cherish. With such a wide scope of students from different states and countries, Penn has allowed me to learn the true meaning of a “melting pot” at school.
