This is a recording of a Niche webinar discussing the results of our 3rd annual survey of parents.

After the webinar, we surveyed attendees to get more feedback about what they are currently doing for parent engagement and what parent-only events they have done.
What are you currently doing for parent engagement and recruitment?
Parent emails were the most frequent responses, followed by not currently doing parent engagement work. Websites with parent guides and information as well as videos were mentioned by several people as well. The most common topics mentioned that they discuss with parents were safety, financial aid, and expectations for their students.
Have you done parent-only events? What type of event was it?
Of the respondents, 45% reported that they have used parent-only events to engage parents. Here are some of the great ideas that were mentioned:
“Social hour with our faculty and staff – it was a huge hit. Parents could ask any question that they wanted in a “safe” environment.”
“Virtually, yes, a 6-7 series session involving parent ambassadors, professors, college staff, admission & financial aid counselors, and coaches.”
“Parent Panels; parents of current students share their student’s experiences and then answer questions for admitted students’ parents.”
“We also have parent-only events during admitted student events – these are held at the President’s house, and parents can hear from the President, ask questions, and mingle with one another.”
“We have done virtual events that were themed as “Admissions 101″ prior to the release of our application in August.”
