March 4, 2019–PITTSBURGH–Niche, the leading platform for choosing schools, neighborhoods, and companies, today releases its 2019 Best Places to Live rankings. This is the fifth consecutive year that Niche has produced these rankings.
For the first time since 2016, Arlington, VA is the #1 best city to live in America, knocking Ann Arbor, MI from the top spot. For the first year, Bluemont, VA, an Arlington neighborhood, is the #1 best place to live in America, dethroning Carmel, IN.
The new Best Places to Live rankings analyze 228 cities and 18,000 towns and neighborhoods nationwide based on statistical data from the U.S. Census, FBI, BLS, and CDC, as well as millions of resident reviews. Niche determined its best places to live based on factors like affordability, the local housing market, neighborhood diversity, area public schools, walkability, crime and safety, and many more.
“For 2019, we very slightly increased the weight of the Cost of Living factor to more accurately reflect our users’ needs. Affordability is consistently top of mind to our users in the home-buying process,” said Luke Skurman, founder and CEO of Niche.
The 2019 Best Places to Live include a host of rankings that Niche users know well, including specialized lists like Best for Families, Young Professionals, and Retirees. But this new release is Niche’s most comprehensive Places to Live content yet, adding more than 3,000 city neighborhoods and 95 metro areas into the rankings for the first time.
